Your dream child at 10th week
www.mydreamchild.com

Yah! You’ve made it to ten weeks .The baby is floating in approximately 50 ml of amniotic fluid and as she continues to grow, the amount of fluid will also increase, as it is largely made up of the urine she excretes!!!! Your baby is developing rapidly, with changes taking place daily. Muscles in your baby’s face are developing that will eventually enable her to suck and chew. By this stage, she even has distinctive fingerprints.

Development

Here are some of the other changes your baby is going through during your 10th week of pregnancy:

  • By the beginning of the 10th week of pregnancy, all of your baby’s vital organs have formed.
  • Her bones continue to develop. On an ultrasound, your baby’s bones appear white.
  • At 10 weeks pregnant, his ears get close to their final form.
  • Her teeth buds emerge and his eyelids develop further.
  • If it's a boy, his testes are making testosterone (how manly!).
  • Tiny fingers and toes are fully separated (no more webbing).
  • The umbilical cord is fully formed and blood is beginning to circulate through it, although the placenta is not yet formed.

Appearance

Your little one now looks like a baby. A little over an inch or so long, crown to bottom — and weighs less than a quarter of an ounce, your baby has now completed the most critical portion of her development. Your baby's forehead temporarily bulges with her developing brain and sits very high on her head, which measures half the length of his body. Her eyes are moving from the sides of the head to the front, and are now covered by the eyelids. Her ears and mouth are forming.

Q: Now that I'm pregnant, I get to "eat for two," right?

week10

In one sense, nutritionally, you are eating for two during pregnancy. Eating healthy is never more important because what you put in your body is feeding both you and your growing baby. Your baby is totally dependent on you for getting enough vitamins and nutrients to have a good start in life. As far as the amount of food you eat, you are not eating for two. Keep in mind that it is not the quantity you eat during pregnancy that is important, it is the quality.

But you need only about 300 more calories per day, it is about the equivalent of "one slice of whole grain bread and one tablespoon of peanut butter." If you put on too much weight during pregnancy, you increase your risk of gestational diabetes, backaches, high blood pressure, and needing a cesarean birth because your babies very large. Conversely, gaining too little weight during pregnancy is a concern. It can lead to low birth weight, premature delivery, and, later, developmental delays, learning disabilities, and chronic health problems in your baby.
